a visual presentaion behind the story of “nambu” 

right from its raw stage till its final identity.

a unique recipe where old tradition is the main 

ingriedient,with true flavours from nature and 

lastly a pinch of my wild yet subtle design 

sesnibilites to bring to you “nambu” all the way 

from leh-ladakh india

first step involves cleaning of wool manually 

to get rid of all the debris and then it needs 

to be washed .

dried wool is then comed to create bails using 

“balchad” (brush comb in local language)

the ready bails are then hand spun to create 

yarn.

spun yarns are then made into balls called 

“tugu”in local language

LACHU

lachu is a plant 

which is found on 

the mountain 

plains and this 

is the plant 

which gives the 

holy mustard 

colour

INDIGO

 The most 

beautiful and 

vibrant shade 

from indigo 

blocks but not 

native to ladakh.

WALNUT

dried walnut 

shells is used 

to get shades of 

brown

lachu dye 2112 Saldon

Dye is prepared by

crusing it down to power and 

put in a cottan sack, after 

which it it thrown 

in medium-hot water.

The ready bail is then 

thrown in the dye solution and we have to let it sit in for couple of hours until the yarns have soaked the 

dye completely

it has soaked in all the dye
